HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958 03-03 PKBDMF, VILLAGE OF BROOKLYN CENTER PARK BOARD IVMTING March 3, 1958 M I N U T E S The regular meeting of the Brooklyn Center Park Board was held at the Village Hall, 7:30 P.M., Monday, March 3, 1958. Members present were Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Frank Irvin. Minutes of previous meetings held on February 3, 11, 17, and 24 were approved as read. Motion by Lawrence, seconded by Irvin, that the following bids on Park Maintenance equipment be accepted: Astl.eford Equipment Company Inc. International 1-330 Utility Tractor $1772.30 Canvas Cab 43.65 Independent PTO 100.00 Total price with trade-in $1915.95 R. L. Gould Company Worthington Mower, Tractor mounted three Blitzer gang $ 931.90 Midway Tractor & Equipment Co. Adjustable rear blade, Model 19-85 $ 124.50 Motion carried. The Superintendent reported that the Village Council has requested the Park Board to assume the duties and responsibilities in regard to the proposed Junior Chamber of Commerce Carnival, to be held on the University Triangle, 1Iay 31 to June 4. The Superintendent was instructed to secure permission from the University of Minnesota and also a statement outlining specific plans from the 3aycees. Dr. Isabel Cameron, Miss Juanita Erickson, and Mr. Robert Speeter, Attorney for Dr. Cameron, met with the Board to present a proposed selling price for property now orned by Dr. Cameron. The proposal, was al foilars: Seven platted lots (approzimatel,y 2.5 acres) @ $2,000 per lot $140000. Balance of Tract containing 17.5 acres @ $2,200 per acres (41 lots @ $950. each) $38,500. Total asking price $52.500 No official action was taken. Boundaries at Southeast Park were discussed. It was agreed that lot depths be as follows: Lots 20 and 19: 200 feet; Lot 18 and the North 86 feet of Lot 17: 155 feet; the South 40 feet of Lot 17: access to Bryant Avenue: Lot 16, 15,14,13, and 12: 150 feet; all lots on Camden Avenue: 150 feet. It w s further agreed that the owners of Parcels 3950, 3850, and 3900, be allowed to retain the South half of said parcels. The Board felt that compensation for buildings, shrubs, berry bushes, and fruits trees on property being purchased should not be allowed. G3 Proposals for purchase of the Wild property at Willow Lane were presented as follows: Total land and house: $10,800. Total land (ovmer to tetain and move house) $10,600. No action s taken. It was agreed that The East boundary of Poplar Lane Park will. be on the center line of Kyle Avenue extended. The West fifteen acres will be purchased for park.purposes. - - The meeting was adjourned.
