PARK BOARD MEETING
February 24, 1958
MINUTES
A special meeting of the Brooklyn Center'Park board was held
at the Village Hall, 7:30 P.M., Monday, February 24, 1958.
Members present wer Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Frank
Irvin.
Mr, lion Birmingham, representing the Junior Chamber of
Commerce, requested the use of the triangle at 59th and
Humboldt for the purpose of holding a carnival from May 31
to June 4, 1958. Action was deferred pending futher investi-
gation regarding possible legal complications with the
University of Minnesota.
Rev. Amos Levang, representing Assembly of God Church, requested
permission to purchase irwo and one-half acres of Cahlander
property presently being considered for Park acquisition.
Action was deferred pending further study.
The sale agreement for the-,purchase of the Schmidt property
was approved and signed.
Motion by Irvin, seconded by Lawrence, that the Park Board
purchase the Hoseph Wild property located north of the south
155 feet measured from the property line, for the price of
$6,700.00. Under this ap!rPpment the ot•,ner will retain the
house and move said house from the park property within three
months after receiving written notice from the I)ark Board.
Motion carried.
It was agreed that a committee representing landovners at
Southeast Park be appointed to select an appraiser for the
purpose of getting another appraisal on the property. Costs
to be assumed by the Park Board. Members of this committee
are V,alter Anderson 5320 Bryant; Charles Havill, 5450 Bryant;
Fred Johnson 5324 Bryant; Ray Huddleston, 5323 Camden; and
Al Johnson 5919 Dupont.
Motion by Lawrence, seconded by Irvin, that action regarding
purchase of the Szabla property at 803 - 55th Avenue North
be tabled pending agreement with other property owners in the
Southeast area.
The meeting was adjourned.
