Park Board Meeting
December 9, 1957

The regular meeting of the Brooklyn Center Park Board was held at the Village
Hall, 7::30 p.m., Monday, December 9, 1957. Members present were Paul Bullen,
Dallas Lawrence, and Frank Irvin. Minutes of the previous meeting were read
and approved.
The Superintendent reported on progress of skating rink construction; stating
new poles were installed and guide wires attached at the Earle Brovm rink,
hockey boards were set up at Willow Lane, warming houses were being moved,
arrangements were made for electrical wiring, and lighting, and flooding of
rinks had begun.
The question of repairing the old tractor or purchasing a new one was discussed.
The Superintendent was instructed to draw up specifications for a tractor,
mower, blade, and broom in preparation for advertising for bids. Prices for a
new tractor and broom will.be obtained both with and without a trade-in.
The possibility of consolidatin the Park and Recreation Boards was presented.
Members of the Board agreed to the relative merits of such a combination and
further agreed to investigate the proposal.
The acquisition of all or part of Cameron Manor was discussed. The Superintendent
was instructed to find out the amount of special assessments against the
property, the orginal purchase price of the property, and to obtain the asking
price of all or part of the propery from the owner.
It was reported that monies up to $509000 are available from Village Funds
until bonds are sold.
Mr. Corwine, Landscape Architect, presented his proposal for the development
and construction of park facilities. No official action was taken.
The meeting was adjourned.
