PARK COMMISSION
September 9, 1957
MINUTES
The regular meeting of the Brooklyn Center Park Board was held
at the Village Hall, 8:00 P.M., Monday, September 9, 19579 Members
present were Paul Bullen, Dallas Lawrence, and Frank Irvin.
Seeding of the Park area at 61st and France Avenue North was
discussed. The superintendent was instructed to obtain prices
on the cost of this project and report to the board.
The board agreed to pay half the cost of a hand mower (rotary
type) providdd`-the Village pay the other half.
The number, location, and maintenance of skating rinks was dis-
cussed. It was agreed that rinks be located as follows:
1 - 57th and Lyndale North
2 - Triangle (Earle Brown)
1 - Northport School
1 - Willow Lane School
1 - 72nd And Lyndale North
1 - 63rd And France North
The superintendent was allowed expenses to attend the Park
Conference being held in Minneapolis September 22 - 26.
Mr. Robert Corwin e, Landscape Architect, reported on the progress
of the Park Survey. Mr. Corwine reviewed existing properties
now owned by the village and possible locations for future park
and recreational sites. Cost data regarding land purchase and
detelopment, and financing by bond issue for park and recreational
developments we•e also presented.
It was agreed that the board meet in one wek, September 16, to
continue the discussion with Mr. Corwine.
