MINUTES
The regular monthly meeting of the Brooklyn Center Park Board was held at the
Village hall 8:00 P.M., Monday, June % 1957. Members,-;present were Paul Bullen,
Dallas Lawrence, and Frank Irvin. The minutes of the previous meeting were
read and approved.
The superintendent reported on progress of improving the ball diamonds at
59th and Humboldt Avenue and work being,- done ne at the Park area at 61st and
France Avenue.
The possibility of purchasing a small tractor and mower was discussed. No
official action was taken. The superintendent was instructed to obtain
descriptive literature of tractors, mowers, and attachments so that a study of types
and prices could be made.
Two 10t x 4t extensions for the baseball diamond at 59th and Humboldt Avenue
were discussed. The superintendent was instructed to get prices on the erection
of the extensions and report to members of the Board.
Motion by Irvin, seconded by Lawrence, that the board purchase the equipment
necessary to complete the swings at 61st and France Avenue. Motion carried.
Motion by Irvin, seconded by Lawrence, that specifications be prepared and
bids accepted for the surfacing of a 301 x 64t area at 61st and France Avenue.
Motion carried.
Letters from the Robbinsdale and Osseo School Districts granting approval to the
Park Board to erect backstops at Northport and Willow Lane Schools were read and
placed on file. The superintendent was instructed to secure bids on the purchase
and installation of the backstops.
The superintendent reported on the arrangement for park maintenance labor. Men
from the Street Department are beine; used and the time spent working for the
Park Department is being charged to-the Park Fund. The Park Board is not
being charged for the use of equipment. To date, 28 hours for labor, making a
total of $57.50, has been charged to the Park Fund.
