RESOLUTION NO. 2024-88
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ADOPTION OF THE EMERALD ASH
BORER MITIGATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive pest that has caused
significant damage to ash trees across Minnesota, including the City of Brooklyn Center; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center recognizes the environmental,
economic, and social value of its urban forest and the importance of managing the EAB threat to
preserve this resource; and
WHEREAS, the City has developed an Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation Plan to
address the removal of infested and at -risk ash trees, replanting with diverse species, and
educating the public on EAB management strategies; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of this plan will allow the City to take a proactive
approach in managing EAB, reducing the risks posed by dying trees, and ensuring the long-term
health and diversity of the urban tree canopy;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that:
1. The Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation Plan is hereby approved and adopted.
2. City staff is authorized to carry out the plan effective immediately.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Graves
and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Butler, Graves, Jerzak, Kragness, Lawrence -Anderson
and the following voted against the same: none
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
