HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974 03-12 HCMCall to Order Roll Call Approval of Minutes: 2 -12 -74 Minutes of the Proceedings of the Housing Commission of the City of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and the State of Minnesota REGULAR SESSION MARCH 12, 1974 CITY HALL The Brooklyn Center Housing Commission met in regular session and was called to order by Chairman Howard at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Howard, Commissioners Ward, Nelson, Beikler and Haroldson. Also present were Councilman Bill Fignar, Director of Planning and Inspection Blair Tremere and Administra- tive Assistant Daniel Hartman. Motion by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Haroldson to approve the minutes of the February 12, 1974 meeting as submitted. The motion passed unanimously. BC Kaleidoscope '74 A lengthy discussion ensued relative to BC Kaleidoscope '74. Commissioners Magnuson and Hastings arrived at 7 :35 p.m. The discussion continued with Commissioners commenting on the pamphlet to be prepared for distribution by the Commission. Councilman Fignar stated that he had received approval for the printing of 1,200 copies for use at the Kaleidoscope program and a direct mailing to all residents of Brooklyn Center. It was the feeling of the Commission that the booth for the Housing Commission at BC Kalei- doscope '74 should contain one large map of Brooklyn Center showing the Housing Commission neighborhoods. An extensive review ensued relative to each segment of the pamphlet. Motion by Commissioner Ward and seconded by Commissioner Magnuson to approve the first section on the information side of the pam- phlet as discussed. The motion passed unan- imously. Motion by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Ward to approve the first goal as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Haroldson and seconded by Commissioner Hastings to approve the second goal as presented. The motion passed unani- mously. Motion by Commissioner Hastings and seconded by Commissioner Ward to approve the third goal as presented. The motion passed unani- mously. Motion by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Magnuson to approve the fourth goal as discussed. The motion passed unani- mously. Motion by Commissioner Haroldson and seconded by Commissioner Nelson to approve the fifth goal as presented. The motion passed unani- mously. Motion by Commissioner Magnuson and seconded by Commissioner Haroldson to approve the sixth goal as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Haroldson and seconded by Commissioner Magnuson to approve the seventh goal as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Hastings and seconded by Commissioner Nelson to approve the eighth goal as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Hastings and seconded by Commissioner Magnuson to approve the ninth goal as discussed. The motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Ward to strike from the third sec- tion of the information side of the pamphlet those comments making reference to help, concern and ideas that are needed. The motion passed unanimously. Brooklyn Center Jaycee Community Attitude Survey Citizen Speak Out Adjournment Motion by Commissioner Haroldson and seconded by Commissioner Ward to approve the last three paragraphs of the third section making reference to the Housing Commission's time of meeting, open meetings and welcome to the public. The motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Hastings and seconded by Commissioner Nelson to approve the drawing for the front of the pamphlet as discussed. The motion passed unanimously. It was the general consensus of the Commission that the pamphlet should be printed on bright green paper with black ink. Chairman Howard noted that Commissioners Hastings, Beikler and Nelson would be responsible for the printing of. the pamphlet. Commissioner Nelson next reported on the Jaycee Community Attitude Survey. She stated that the survey results would be available by April 15, 1974. Commissioner Hastings then informed the Commis- sion on a citizen speak out to be held on March 24, 1974 at the Holiday Inn from 1:00 3:00 p.m. She stated that the program would give the citizens of Brooklyn Center an oppor- tunity to voice their concerns on civic issues. Motion by Commissioner Magnuson and seconded by Commissioner Ward to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The Brooklyn Center Housing Commission adjourned at 9:37 p.m. Chairman
