HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-184 CCR1 1 1 its adoption: Member Kathleen Carmody introduced the following resolution and moved RESOLUTION NO. 96- 184 RESOLUTION CERTIFYING SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1996 -10, CONTRACT 1996 -H, MINNEAPOLIS BORDER STREET IMPROVEMENTS ON 53RD AND XERXES AVENUES, TO THE HENNEPIN COUNTY TAX ROLLS WHEREAS, pursuant to proper notice duly given as required by law, the City Council has met and heard and passed upon all objections to the proposed Special Assessment Levy No. 13737; and WHEREAS, an assessment roll, a copy of which is attached hereto and part hereof by reference, has been prepared by the City Clerk, tabulating those properties where a street improvement cost is to be assessed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: 1. Such proposed assessment, Special Assessment Levy No. 13737, made a part hereof, is hereby accepted and shall constitute the special assessment against the lands named therein, and each tract of land therein included is hereby found to be benefitted by the improvement in the amount of the assessment levied against it. 2. Such assessment shall be payable in equal annual installments extending over a period of ten (10) years as indicated on the assessment roll. The first of the installments to be payable with ad valorem taxes in 1997, and shall bear interest at the rate of seven (7) percent per annum on the entire assessment from October 1, 1996 through December 31, 1997. 3. The owner of any property so assessed may at any time prior to the certificate of the assessment to the County Auditor pay the whole of the assessment, with interest accrued to the date of payment, to the City Treasurer, except that no interest shall be charged if the entire assessment is paid within 30 days from the adoption of this resolution; and he or she may, at any time thereafter, pay to the City Treasurer the entire amount of the assessment remaining unpaid, with interest accrued to December 31 of the year in which such payment is made. Such payment must be made 1 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 96- 184 4. The City Clerk shall forthwith transmit a certified duplicate of this assessment to the County Auditor to be extended on the proper tax lists of the county, and such assessments shall be collected and paid over in the same manner as other municipal taxes.
