Member Debra Hilstrom introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 95 -36
RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION OF
PHILIP COHEN FOR HIS DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE AS
COUNCILMEMBER
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 78 -20 recognized Philip Cohen for his dedicated
public service as a Village Trustee from 1963 through 1965 and as Mayor from 1966 through
1977; and
WHEREAS, on May 22, 1989, Philip Cohen was appointed by Council to fill the
unexpired term of Councilmember Gene Lhotka until December 31, 1990; and
WHEREAS, on January 16, 1991, Philip Cohen was appointed by Council to fill
the unexpired term of Councilmember Todd Paulson until December 31, 1992; and
WHEREAS, his continual service to the City and his consistent leadership have
contributed substantially to the sound progress and development of the City; and
WHEREAS, his public service and civic effort for the betterment of the
community merit the gratitude of the citizens of Brooklyn Center; and
WHEREAS, it is highly appropriate that his services and achievements for the
betterment of the City should be permanently recognized and expressed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center that Philip Cohen is hereby presented with this resolution as a visible and
lasting expression of gratitude for the leadership and service he has rendered and the benefits
he has secured to the citizens of the city of Brooklyn Center.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Kristen Mann and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in
favor thereof: Myrna Kragness, Kristen Mann, Debra Hilstrom, and Kathleen Carmody;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
