HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-236 CCRMember Celia Scott introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center is a member of the Hennepin Recycling Group (HRG), which is a joint powers group formed pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, 1987, Section 471.59; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the joint powers agreement was to create an organization by which the member cities may jointly and cooperatively provide for the efficient and economical collection, recycling, and disposal of solid waste within and without their respective corporate boundaries, all in compliance with Minnesota Waste Management Act, Minnesota Statutes, 1987, Chapter 115A; and WHEREAS, the HRG has established a curbside recycling program for its member cities to meet the requirements of Hennepin County Ordinance No. 13, Solid Waste Source Separation for Hennepin County; and WHEREAS, Brooklyn Center Ordinance No. 89 -11 authorizes the City to establish rates for recycling services; and WHEREAS, the City Council by Resolution 94 -213 has established a rate of $2.25 per month per household for recycling services beginning January 1, 1995; and WHEREAS, HRG has amended its rate for 1995 to $2.15 per month per household for recycling services beginning January 1, 1995; and WHEREAS, the rates for recycling services established by the HRG reflect the amount needed to fund the City's curbside recycling program after the projected reimbursement of recycling program costs from Hennepin County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that the above amended rates established by the HRG for recycling services are hereby approved.
