HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-057 CCR1 1 1 Member Kristen Mann introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 94 -57 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION OF AND APPRECIATION FOR THE DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE OF SY KNAPP WHEREAS, Sy Knapp was appointed as Director of Public Works on July 1, 1979, and served in that capacity until he retired on January 28, 1994; and WHEREAS, he has served in many capacities as a long- standing member of the American Public Works Association; Minnesota Public Works Association; City Engineers Association of Minnesota; Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers; and Rotary Club of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, Sy was named City Engineer of the Year by the City Engineers Association of Minnesota in 1989 for his outstanding service and his engineering accomplishments; and WHEREAS, his devotion to the tasks and responsibilities as Director of Public Works contributed substantially to the effectiveness and success of the Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, his stewardship of the public investment in infrastructure, and public service and civic effort for the betterment of the community merit the gratitude of the citizens of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, it is highly appropriate his service to the community should be recognized and expressed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that the dedicated public service of Sy Knapp is hereby recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn Center and that the City wishes him a long and happy retirement. ATTEST: March 28, 1994 Date Todd Paulson, Mayor Deputy Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Barb Kalligher and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Todd Paulson, Dave Rosene, Barb Kalligher, and Kristen Mann; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
