Member Celia Scott introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92 -251
RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 3, 1992, CITY
ELECTION
WHEREAS, the City Council has met for the purpose of
canvasing the election returns of a special election called
pursuant to Resolution No. 92 -205, adopted by the City Council on
August 24, 1992, for the purpose of submitting to the electors the
question of amending Section 2.05 of the City Charter; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has met for the purpose of
canvassing the election returns of a special election called
pursuant to Resolution No. 92 -219, adopted by the City Council on
September 14, 1992, for the purpose of submitting to the electors
the question of authorizing the City Council to levy a one percent
sales tax to fund approved housing projects; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has met for the purpose of
canvassing the election returns of the regular municipal election
for the office of two City Councilmembers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Brooklyn Center that the votes cast at said City election
for the following question were as follows:
SHALL THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT RELATING TO THE
PROCEDURE FOR FILLING VACANCIES ON THE CITY COUNCIL BE
ADOPTED?
8,609 YES votes
3,916 NO votes
BE IT RESOLVED that the question submitted was approved
in the affirmative by more than 51% of the qualified voters of the
City voting at such election and that the said question was duly
approved by said voters.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the votes cast at said City
election for the following question were as follows:
SHALL THE BROOKLYN CENTER CITY COUNCIL BE AUTHORIZED TO
LEVY A TAX OF ONE PERCENT ON GROSS RECEIPTS FROM THE SALE
OF LIQUOR AND FROM THE SALE OF FOOD AT RESTAURANTS TO
FUND APPROVED HOUSING PROJECTS IN THE CITY?
5,878 YES votes
8,298 NO votes

RESOLUTION NO. 92 -251
BE IT RESOLVED that the question submitted was not
approved in the affirmative by more than 51% of the qualified
voters of the City voting at such election and was defeated by said
voters.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Barb Kalligher and Kristen
Mann are declared to be the successful candidates for the office of
City Councilmember of the City of Brooklyn Center.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly
seconded by member Dave Rosene, and upon vote being taken thereon,
the following voted in favor thereof: Celia Scott, Dave Rosene,
Philip Cohen, and Jerry Pedlar,
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
