HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-125 CCR1 1 Member Philip Cohen resolution and moved its adoption: WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center has had a domestic abuse intervention program since 1981; and WHEREAS, the general purpose of the intervention program is to intervene in domestic assault cases by providing information and advocacy for victims of domestic assault and by advocating appropriate responses to assailants within the criminal justice and mental health systems; and WHEREAS, the police and city administration recommend continuance of the program and the city council agrees with this recommendation; and WHEREAS, the city has determined the most cost effective means of providing this service is through contract with a nonprofit agency; and WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Peacemaker Center has agreed to administer and provide coordination for the Brooklyn Center Domestic Abuse Intervention Program for the remainder of calendar year 1992 at a cost of $20,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized to execute a contract with Brooklyn Peacemaker. Center for services relating to domestic abuse intervention for July 1, 1992 through December 31, 1992 at a cost of $20,000. Jerry Pedlar abstained.
