HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-044 CCR1 1 Member Philip Cohen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: ATTEST: RESOLUTION NO. 92 44 RESOLUTION OPPOSING LOCAL GOVERNMENT AID REDUCTIONS WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center $2,667,957 in Local Government Aid from the State WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center Government Aids reduced to $1,954,435; and March 9, 1992 Date in 1989 received of Minnesota; and in 1990 had Local WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center in 1991 had Local Government Aids further reduced to $1,679,415; and WHEREAS, Governor Carlson's current budget reduction plan calls for an additional cut of $595,570 in Brooklyn Center's amount for 1992, 1993 and 1994 for a total of $1,786,710; and WHEREAS, Brooklyn Center and other local governments did, during the 1991 session, contribute 41% of the budget solution from only a 10% share of the State budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the City: 1. Opposes Governor Carlson's proposed Local Government Aid reduction plan as cities have already carried a disproportionate share of State Budget reductions; and 2. That further Local Government Aid cuts will result in significant reductions crippling vital services; and 3. Requests our State Representatives and Senator to oppose the Governor's current plan and any further Local Government Aid reductions. Todd Paulson, Mayor Deputy Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Dave Rosene and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Todd Paulson, Celia Scott, Jerry Pedlar, Dave Rosene, and Philip Cohen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
