HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-139 CCRMember Todd Paulson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 89 139 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PROJECT, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDERING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1989 -19, ON -SITE IMPROVEMENTS TO BROOKDALE SQUARE ENTRANCE WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared plans and specifications for the improvement project listed below and has presented such plans and specifications to the City Council for approval: ON -SITE IMPROVEMENTS TO BROOKDALE SQUARE ENTRANCE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1989 -19 AND WHEREAS, by separate resolution the City Council has approved an agreement with the owners of property against which special assessments will be levied. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that: 1. The improvement is hereby ordered as proposed. 2. The plans and specifications for the following improvement as prepared by the City Engineer are approved and ordered filed with the City Clerk: ON -SITE IMPROVEMENTS TO BROOKDALE SQUARE ENTRANCE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1989 -19 3. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted at least twice in the official newspaper and in the Construction Bulletin an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvement under such approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published as required by law, shall specify the work to be done, shall state that said bids will be received by the City Clerk until the date and time specified, at which time they will be publicly opened at City Hall by the City Clerk and the City Engineer. Subsequently, the bid shall be tabulated and will then be considered by the City Council at a meeting of the City Council. The advertisement shall state that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond, or certified check payable to the City for 5 percent of the total amount of such bid. Any bidder whose responsibility is questioned during consideration of the bid will be given an opportunity to address the Council on the issue of responsibility. 4. The estimated cost of this project is $149,035. 5. The estimated cost will be financed by Special Assessment to the owners of Brookdale Square in the amount of $149,035. 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 89 -139 July 10, 1989 Date ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Celia Scott and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Celia Scott, 'Todd Paulson, and Jerry Pedlar; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
