Member Celia Scott introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 88 -213
RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 1988 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PROVIDE FOR WAGE AND
SALARY ADJUSTMENTS
WHEREAS, Section 7.08 of the City Charter of the City of Brooklyn Center
does provide that the City Council may, by majority vote of its members, transfer
unencumbered appropriation balances from one office, department, or agency to
another within the same fund; and
WHEREAS, on October 5, 1987, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn
Center adopted a budget for the calendar year 1988; and
WHEREAS, when said budget was adopted, 1988 salaries and wages for some
City employees had not been set; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did appropriate funds for departmental labor
and fringe benefits in the amount of $230,014 to Unallocated Departmental Expense
(Department #80) to provide funds for 1988 salary and wage settlements; and
WHEREAS, all wages and salaries for the calendar year 1988 have either
been set by the Council or a reasonable estimate can be made for those wages and
salaries not yet settled.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center to transfer $220,112 from the following Unallocated Departmental
Expense (Department #80) appropriations:

01 -4141 PERA Regular
01 -4142 PERA Combined
01 --4143 PERA Police
01 -4144 Social Security
01 -4151 Hospitalization Insurance
01 -4152 Life Insurance
01 -4157 Deferred Compensation

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Bill Hawes and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in
favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
