HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-024 CCR1 1 Member Bill Hawes resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 88 -24 introduced the following RESOLUTION APPROVING A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT TO FORM THE HENNEPIN RECYCLING GROUP WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center intends to comply with Hennepin County Ordinance No. 13 and recycle 16% of the City's waste by 1990 by implementing curbside recycling and yard waste collection for residents in the City of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, many surrounding cities share the same difficulties of implementing cost effective curbside recycling services with unorganized refuse collection as the City of Brooklyn Center and that these problems may be solved more effectively as a group; and WHEREAS, it is more cost effective for a group of cities to work as one entity to solve these problems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that pursuant to the authority granted by Minnesota Statutes section 471.59, that the Mayor and City Manager are authorized to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the cities of Brooklyn Park, Crystal, and New Hope to form the Hennepin Recycling Group (HRG). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to sign such Joint Powers Agreement. January 25, 1988 Date ATTEST: 2- 2 _.e-2-L Clerk May9tr/ The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Gene Lhotka and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
