HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-112 CCR1 Member Rich Theis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: Date ATTEST: Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 87 -112 RESOLUTION DIRECTING STAFF TO PROCEED WITH INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS WITH REFUSE COLLECTORS TO EXAMINE THE POTENTIAL OF ORGANIZED REFUSE COLLECTION IN THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center currently has an open system of refuse collection; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council Solid Waste Management Development Guide and Policy Plan points out the advantages of an organized collection system; and WHEREAS, increasing emphasis by State, Metropolitan Council, and County governments dictate a more active role in the waste management area by local governments; and WHEREAS, the City desires to reach the recycling goals established by Hennepin County; and WHEREAS, an organized refuse collection system may provide a means to achieve those goals. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that the staff participants of the JOINT HEALTH SERVICES AGREEMENT hold informational meetings with licensed refuse collectors to examine the feasibility of an organized refuse collection and keep the City Council advised concerning subsequent Counc action required to achieve the mandated 16% recycling goal. May 18. 1987 �.r- -t �,fAl'C�✓' rff; The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Bill Hawes and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
