HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-046 CCRMember Rich Theis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 87 -46 RESOLUTION REJECTING ALL BIDS AND ORDERING ADVERTISEMENT FOR NEW BIDS FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 1987 -02, WATER TOWER NO 1 RECONDITIONING. CONTRACT 1987 -B WHEREAS, pursuant to and advertisement for bids for Improvement Project No. 1987 -02, Contract 1987 -B, bids were received, opened and tabulated by the City Clerk and the City Engineer on the 19th day of February, 1987. Said bids were as follows: Bidder Johnson Brothers Company Abhe and Svoboda, Inc. Maguire Iron, Inc. Odland Protective Coatings, Inc. Tenyer Coatings, Inc. AND, WHEREAS, the low bidder, Johnson Brothers in computing its bid for the work. AEC Engineers and the project, has reviewed the bid and acknowledged that low bidder; and Bid Amount 57,953.00 92,035.00 98,030.00 98,100.00 101,000.00 Company, made an error Designers, Engineer for an error was made by the WHEREAS, the second low bid is too high above the estimate of $78,200 to be considered: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that: 1. All bids received for Project No. 1987 -02 are hereby rejected. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposit made with their bids. 2 The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted at least twice in the official newspaper and in the Construction Bulletin an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvement under such approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published as required by law, shall specify the work to be done, shall state that said bids will be received by the City Clerk until the date and time specified, at which time they will be publicly opened at City Hall by the City Clerk and the City Engineer. Subsequently, the bids shall be tabulated and will then be considered by the City Council at a meeting of the City Council. The advertisement shall state that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond, or certified check payable to the City for 5 percent of the total amount of such bid. 1 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 87 -46 ATTEST: March 9, 1987 Date L Mayor Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Gene Lhotka and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
