HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-084 CCRMember Celia Scott introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 84 -84 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION OF AND APPRECIATION FOR THE DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE OF TRUMAN A. NELSON WHEREAS, Truman A. Nelson served the City of Brooklyn Center as an employee for more than 29 years from October 12, 1954 to May 31, 1984; and WHEREAS, he served in the position of Liquor Stores Manager for the City of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, he served for over 20 years on the Brooklyn Center Volunteer Fire Department; and WHEREAS, he retired from public service on May 31, 1984; and WHEREAS, through his dedication to his position as Liquor Stores Manager, he was instrumental in the growth of the municipal liquor stores in Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, his devotion to the tasks and responsibilities associated with his position contributed substantially to the sound progress and develop- ment of the City; and WHEREAS, his public service and civic effort for the betterment of the community merit the gratitude of the citizens of Brooklyn Center: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, that the dedicated public service of Truman A. Nelson is recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn Center and that the City wishes him a long and happy retirement. May 21, 1984 Date ATTEST: (k Z_V:te_ Mayo The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Bill Hawes and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
