HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-194 CCR Member Gene Lhotka introduced the following resolution and_ moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 83 -194 III RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 1983 AND THE 1984 GENERAL FUND BUDGETS WHEREAS, section 7.08 of the Brooklyn Center City Charter authorizes the City Council to appropriate funds from accumulated surplus in an amount equal to a previous appropriation in the General Fund Budget, if not in fact expended or encumbered for that purpose in the previous fiscal year; and WHEREAS, on August 9,1982, the City Council amended the 1982 General Fund Budget (Resolution Nol. 82 -154) to appropriate funds for Brooklyn Center's participation with the Hennepin County Department of Emergency Preparedness in a radio activated civil defense siren system; and WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Department of Emergency Preparedness informed the City in 1982 that new, improved, and less expensive equipment would be available in 1983; and WHEREAS, the City Council amended the 1982 and 1983 General Fund Budgets to transfer the appropriation for the equipment from one budget year to the other; and WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Department of Emergency Services has informed the City that the conversion to radio activated civil defense sirens has been ill delayed until calendar year 1984: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to amend the 1984 General Fund Budget to appropriate $12,000 to the Emergency Preparedness (Division No. 34), Other Equipment Account No. 4552, from the General Fund Balance to purchase said system in 1984; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to amend the 1983 General Fund Budget to decrease the appropriation for said purchase by the same amount.
