Member Celia Scott introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
III RESOLUTION NO. 84 -77
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REPLACEMENT OF POLICE SERGEANT POSITION
WHEREAS, Sergeant Raymond Beach will be retiring from his position
as police sergeant effective June 30, 1984; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Beach qualifies for participation in the City's
Employee Retirement Incentive Program as per Council Resolution No. 83 -33; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 83 -33 specifies that positions vacated .y
employee's retiring under the Employee Retirement Incentive Program w'l1
not be filled without prior City Council approval of the funds to be o pended
on filling the vacancy; and
WHEREAS, the police administration has submitted a request to eplace
the sergeant position vacated by Sergeant Beach's retirement and has 'ndicated
that the replacement is essential to meet the current staffing needs 'n the
police department; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that it is in the be t interest
of the City to replace the sergeant position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
III Brooklyn Center that the replacement of the police sergeant position_, acated:
by the retirement of Sergeant Raymond Beach is hereby approved.

The motion for the of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded
by member Bill Hawes and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes,
and Rich Theis;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
