HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-091 CCRMember Celia Scott introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 81-91 RESOLUTION DECLARING APRIL 27 THROUGH MAY 3, 1981 AS NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS' WEEK IN BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, the City government of Brooklyn Center includes a number of advisory commissions including a Planning Commission, Conservation Commission, Park and Recreation Commission, Housing Commission, Human Rights Commission, Charter Commission, Traffic Safety Advisory Committee, Community Development Advisory Committee, and two representatives on the Northwest Human Services Advisory Council; and WHEREAS, membership of these commissions and committees is composed of Brooklyn Center residents who have volunteered to serve on the various commissions and committees; and WHEREAS, the advisory commissions and committees provide a valuable service to the residents of Brooklyn Center demonstrating responsible and effective leadership in the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center recognizes and appreciates the contribution to public service made by the members of the City's advisory commissions and committees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the week of April 27 to May 3, 1981 be declared National Volunteers' Week in Brooklyn Center in honor of the dedicated public service of the members of the City's advisory commissions and committees. April 20, 1981 Date Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Gene Lhotka and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, Gene Lhotka, and Celia Scott; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
