moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 80 -146
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING GARDEN CITY SHELTER BUILDING PROJECT
NO. 1980 -18 AND ORDERING PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
WHEREAS, on May 19, 1980, the City Council declared that the
referendum questions addressed in the Special Election of May 6, 1980, had
been resolved in the affirmative; and
WHEREAS, a portion of said referendum questions dealt with pro-
viding utility services to the Garden City Park Shelter building; and
WHEREAS, the shelter building in Garden City Park was totally
destroyed by fire on May 18, 1980; and
WHEREAS, the City expects to receive fire insurance proceeds of
approximately $35,000 for replacement of said structure; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to initiate Garden
City Park Shelter Building Project No. 1980 -18 in order to provide for a
replacement structure for the destroyed shelter building and to implement
the issues addressed in the referendum questions.
NOW, T =ORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, to direct the City Engineer to prepare plans and
specifications for said improvement project described as follows:
1980 -18: Garden City Park Shelter Building
Construction of a new shelter building in Brooklane Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer is hereby directed
to apply the insurance proceeds from the fire to, and encumber the amount of
$24,000.00 from the Capital Projects Fund (Fund No. 25) for, construction of
this work (Total Estimated Cost $59,000.00).

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Celia Scott and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Bill Fignar, Gene Lhotka, and Celia
Scott;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
