HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980 02-27 CHCMMinutes of the Proceedings of the Brooklyn Center Charter Commission February 27, 1980, City Hall Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman William Hannay. Present: Commissioners present were Michael Beauchane, John Boldischar, Robert DeVries, William Hannay, Ernest Erickson, Donn Escher, Jean Schiebel, Mary Simmons, Vincent Tubman, and Ann Wallerstedt. Absent: Commissioners Jerry Campion and Ray Maik (excused) were absent. Minutes: The minutes of January 9 were approved. Rules of Procedure: Commissioner Escher will write proposed changes to Section 4. Secretarial Assistant's Pay: Chairman Hannay will talk to Paul Holmlund, Director of Finance and Barbara Sexton and then write a proposal. City Council Presentation: Chairman Hannay reported on his presentation of recommended amendments to the city charter to the city council, January 28. Because some of the recommended changes had been made several months before, it was difficult to answer questions about the changes. Therefore, he recommended that arguments for change be written. Amendment 3: Commissioner Erickson will write support statement for Amendment 3. Amendment 25: Commissioner Simmons will reword Amendment 25 and write support 96 statement. Amendment 9: Commissioner DeVries will rewrite this amendment. Amendment 17: The amendment was approved as retyped and sent out with agenda for this meeting. Meeting with City Attorney: Chairman Hannay was unable to meet with City Attorney Schieffer. Resignation: Commissioner Nelson's resignation was read and accepted. Public Relations Chairman Beauchane will publicize the vacancy in the Brooklyn Center Post. Next meeting: The next meeting of the Brooklyn Center Charter Commission will be April 23, 8 p.m. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned.
