moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 82 -139
RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE BROOKLYN CENTER POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, on Saturday, July 17, 1982, Mrs. Randi Petersen was shot
and killed by a rifle shot in her home at 5309 Bryant Avenue North.
WHEREAS, this senseless act of violence and murder shocked and
saddened the community of Brooklyn Center; and
WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Police Department responded to this
crime in an exemplary manner which led to the early apprehension of the
suspects; and
WHEREAS, all members of the Brooklyn Center Police Department put
forth an extraordinary effort in the investigation of this crime.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center that all members of the Brooklyn Center Police Department
including Investigators, Patrol Officers, Sergeants, Chief of Police, Captain,
Dispatchers, Code Enforcement Officers, Administrative and Clerical Staff are
hereby commended.for their extraordinary devotion to duty and their efforts in
solving this tragic death merit the gratitude of all the citizens of Brooklyn
Center.

The motion for tom/ adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Bill Hawes and upon vote being taken thereon, the
following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott,
and Bill Hawes;
and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
