HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-187 CCRMember Gene Lhotka introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 82 -187 RESOLUTION CERTIFYING DELINQUENT PUBLIC UTILITY ACCOUNTS TO THE HENNEPIN COUNTY TAX ROLLS WHEREAS, the records of the Public Utilities Department list certain accounts as delinquent as of July 1, 1982; and WHEREAS, the owner of the property served by each delinquent account has been notified of the delinquency according to legal requirements; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute, Section 444.075 and City Ordinances, Section 4 -105 authorize certification of such delinquent accounts to the County tax rolls for collection; and WHEREAS, an assessment roll, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference, has been prepared by the City Clerk tabulating those properties where a delinquent public utility account is to be assessed with the amount, including interest and service charges, to be assessed; and WHEREAS, pursuant to proper notice duly given as required by law, the City Council has met and heard and passed upon all objections to such proposed assessments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows: 1. Said assessment roll of delinquent public utility accounts is hereby adopted and certified as Levy No. 8557. 2. The assessments as adopted and confirmed shall be placed upon the 1982 payable 1983 tax rolls by the Director of Finance of Hennepin County to be paid in one annual installment with interest thereon at eight percent per annum, for a period of fifteen months from Octob erl, 1982, through December 31, 1983. 3. The owner of any property so assessed may at any time prior to certification of the assessment to the County Auditor, pay the whole of the assessment, with interest accrued to the date of payment, to the City Treasurer, except that no interest shall be charged if the entire assessment is paid within 30 days from the adoption of this resolution; and he may, at any time thereafter, pay to the City Treasurer the entire amount of the assessment remaining unpaid, with interest accrued to December 31 of the year in which such payment is made. Such payment must be made before November 15, or interest will be charged through December 31 of the succeeding year. 4. The City Clerk shall forthwith transmit a certified duplicate of this assessment to the County Auditor to be extended on the proper tax lists of the county, and such assessments shall be collected and paid over in the same manner as other municipal taxes.
