the Brooklyn Center Charter Commission
ctober 24, 1979
Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Hannay at 8 p.m.
Roll Call: Commissioners Robert DeVries, Ernie Erickson, Donn Escher, William Hannay,
Ray Maik, Edwin Theisen, Vincent Tubman, and Ann Wallerstedt were present.
Applicants for the charter commission Jack Boldischar and Mary Simmons
were also present. Commissioners Cheryl Asplund, Michael Beauchane,
Jerry Campion and Orlander Nelson were absent.
Minutes: The minutes of September 26, 1979 were unanimously approved.
Rules of Procedure:Commissionex DeVries stated that the Charter Commission could not
reject a charter change without 10 members voting for the rejection.
A general decision was made to discuss the vote of ten people for a charter
change at the next meeting. Discussion is to cover IV D, IV E 1, and
IV E 2, and any other part of the rules.
Amendment 24: Chairman Hannay is to get the opinion of the city attorney on
sections 2.04 and 6.02 subd. 5. Further study of these sections is
needed.
Study Committees: Motion by Commissioner Theisen, seconded by Commissioner Wallerstedt
that Commissioner's Maik's report be accepted. Motion carried.
Commissioner Theisen reported that his committee has not met, but will meet
before the next charter commission meeting.
Supplies: Chairman Hannay will ask the city to purchase 20 notebooks, one dozen
brief cases and notepads for the commissioners.
Next meeting: The next meeting of the charter commission will be November 28, 1979 at
8 p.m. at City Hall.
Adjournment: Motion was made to adjourn.
