HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976 03-10 CHCMMinutes of the Proceedings of the BROOKLYN CENTER CHARTER COMMISSION Wednesday, March 10, 1976 Call to order: Tae meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman James Gillen at 7:30 p.m. Present: Commissioners Cheryl Asplun, Robert DeVries, Mona Hintzman, Betty Johnson, Frank Kampmeyer, Orlander Nelson, Glen Bullick, Biola Kanatz, and Walter Vennewitz were present. Absent: Commissioner Henry Dorff (out of town), Richard Higgins (out of town), Barbara Swart (conflict and Edwin Theisen (conflict) were absent. Minutes: Commissioner DeVries stated that copies of City Attorney Schieffer's memo to the city council and city manager on the subject of the Fire Depart- ment in the Structure of City Government and copies of a memo by Richard J. Forstrom to the Brooklyn Center Charter Commission on the Schieffer memo were distributed to charter commissioners at their last meeting which should be stated in the minutes. Motion by Commissioner Kampmeyer, seconded by Commissioner DeVries that the minutes be approved with correction. Motion carried. Motion by Commissioner DeVries, seconded by Commissioner Kanatz that the Executive Committee write a letter to Mr. Forstrom thanking him for his letter and that the commission will be pleased to keep him informed of their meetings. Motion carried. Appointment to Charter Commission: Motion by Commissioner Kanatz seconded by Commissioner DeVries that the Executive Committee's recommendation of Mildred Hendrickx be approved and submitted to the Chief Judge. Motion carried. Next meeting: Motion by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner DeVries that the Charter Commission's next meeting be April 21. Motion carried. Ward System: Motion by Commissioner DeVries, seconded by Commissioner Kanatz that each sub committee have final reports no later than April 8 to the secretarial assistant, the decision to be made before the end of April. Motion defeated. Motion by Commissioner Hintzman, seconded by Commissioner Asplund that the deadline for reports to the secretarial assistant be April 8. Motion carried. Adjournment: Motion by Commissioner Kampmeyer, seconded by Commissioner Nelson that the Charter Commission meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
