HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966 01-11 CHCM3 TKT CEN'T'ER CHARTER COMMISSION MEETING TITS &.PLACE: The Brooklyn Center Charter Commission met at the Village Hall, 7100 Osseo Road at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 1966, THOSE PRESENT: William Arrell, Joseph Barnes, Henry Dorff, Maxie Erickson Quentin Gustafson, Robert Johnson, Barbara Swart, Virginia Tesch, Ward Whalen, Wilfred Zalaznik arrived at 8:05 p.m., Elizabeth Bush and Raymond Matthys arrived at 8:06 p.m., Arthur Callahan arrived at 8:20 p.m. and Charles Nichols arrived at 8:24 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Chairman William Arrell at 8.00 p,,m, Roll call was taken. The Chairman reported that Mayor Cohen has promised that we would have t Charter Commission listed by the door of the Village Hall. Motion was made by Henry Dorff and seconded by Marie Erickson that the minutes of the December 14th meeting be amended to read "will be wiiui±eld until Motion carried unanimously, Henry Dorff, Audit Chairman, reported the expenditures of the Charter Commission for the past year. Motion was made by Ward Whalen and seconded by Joe Barnes that the audit report be adopted. Motion carried unanimously, S Gus Gustafson, Chairman of the Public Relations Committee, reported that an article would appear in the January 12th Brooklyn Center Press regaz'ding the vacancy on the Commission and informing the public of their right to recommend a replacement to the court. The Chairman retorted that he appeared before the Brooklyn Center Jayceets to give them background of the Charter Commission. The Chairman, directed Joe Barnes to contact Mr. Puncochar and get any materials that belong to the Charter Commission and have him sign all rinutes. Maxie Erickson reported she had two names to report to the Commission as �ooebible revlacements• C. D. (Sandy) Sandberg and Leslie Themes, The Chairman reported that the Executive Committee did send a recommendation to the court and that the names submitted by Marie Erickson would be kept on record for futuro reference; The Chairman read the Executive Committee's letter to +lo.dge Pos$een. Marie Erickson suggested setting up tentative dates for the Charter hearings for the public. Discussion was held. The following tentative dates were suggested by Chuck Nichols: March 22 Sub committee rough draft June 20 Finished rough draft September 6 Public Hearing September 20 Public hearing October 19 Publication October 26 Publication Charter Commission Minutes 2. January '9W 9 MaClay Hyde, Charter Consultant, discussed his memos he had prepared on questions asked of him at the vrevious meetings. Motion was made by Chuck Nichols and seconded by Art Callahan that the secretary be instructed to purchase sixteen looseleaf notebooks with dividers for each member of the Commission. Motion carried unanimously. MaClay Hyde discussed Chapter 2 Section 2.05 with the Commission. Motion was made by Ward Whalen and seconded by Will Zalaznik that the meeting be adjourned.
