HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965 07-13 CHCMMINUTES OF THE BROOKLYN CENTER CHAFTEF COIFISSION TIM'S PLACE: The Brooklyn Center Charter Commission met at the Village Hall, 7100 Osseo Road at 8:0^ p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 1965. THOSE PRESENT: William Arrell, Jose Barnes, Henry Dorff, Quentin Gustafson, Charles Nichols, Virginia `'each, Ward Whalen, Robert Johnson arrived at 8 :23 p.m., Robert Punebehar at 8:29 a.m. and Raymond Matthys at 8 :50 p.m. THOS3 ABSENT: Arthur Callahan, Marie Erickson, Barbara Swart, Wilfred Zalaznik. The meeting was dolled to order at 8:10 p.m. by Chairman William Arrell. Roll call was taken with seven present. Quentin Gustafson; Chairman of the Public Relations Committee reported that an article avpeared in the Brooklyn Center Press last week. He reported that he received a call from the North Suburban News reporter of the Minneapolis Star and Tribune. He invited her to the meeting tonight and she said she would be here. William Arrell reported that the progress report he presented to the Citizens Committee was well received. The Chairman suggested that the committees be set mo for work on the Charter, following, the Minnesota Model. Discussion followed. A quorum was received at 8:29 T).m. Ward Whalen moved, Raymond Matthys seconded, that the minutes of the May 25th meeting be amended to read, the May 11th minutes be approved as amended Carried unanimously. Henry Dorff moved, Joseph Barnes seconded, for approval of the minutes of June'22nd be amended to read "Meeting was properly adjourned at 11 :05 p.m.tt Carried unanimously. Virginia Teach made a motion that the Minnesota Charter be divided into tentative sections: Section A, Chapters 1 through 4; Section B, Chapters 5, 6, and 7; and Section C, Chapters 8 through 12. Charles Nichols seconded. Carried unanimously. Mr. Charles Little, Chairman of the Richfield Charter Commission was guest speaker. His main topic was the Police Pension Fund. A question and answer period followed and other points were brought out. Charles Nichols moved, Virginia Teach seconded a motion that a check of $10.00 b8 sent to Charles Little. Carried unanimously. Charter Commission minutes 2 July 13, 1965 The Chairman was informed by Will Zalasnik that Orville Peterson or Dave Kennedy is exoected to be Pere at our next meeting on July 27th. Whalen moved, Quentin Gustafson seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting, Carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 10:25 -o.m.
