T03 'and PLACE: The Brooklyn Charter Commission met at the
Village Hall, 7100 Osseo Road at 8 :00 p.m. on Tuesday,
May 25, 1965.
THOSE PPES Art Callahan, Henry Dorff, Phyllis Zeller, Ward Whalen,
Bill Arrell, Quentin Gustafson, Ray Matthys, Joe Barnes,
Barbara Swart, Will Zalaznik.
THOSE ABS -NT: Charles Nichols, Marie Erickson, Virginia Tesch,
Bob Punchochar, Bob Johnson.
The meeting was called to order at 8:07 by Chairman, Bill Arrell. The
previous minutes were read by Ward Whalen, Vice Chairman. A motion was made
by Ward Whalen, seconded by Barbara Swart that the April 27th minutes be
approved as amended. Motion carried.
Quentin Gustafson, Public Relations Chairman, reported that an appropriate
article had been oublished in the Brooklyn Center Press.
An oral renort was given by Ward Whalen relative to the Executive Committee
mee }ing which was held on May 22, 1965.
Will Zalaznik moved, Art Callahan seconded the motion that the Chairman
appoint tiaro members of the Commission to contact Orville Peterson of the
League of Minnesota I to obtain needed information to enable us
to hire a consultant. Motion carried. The Chairman appointed Will Zalaznik
and Art Callahan to contact Mr. Peterson.
A motion was made by Ray Matthys, seconded by Will Zalaznik that Henry Dorff
be appointed as Audit Chairman for the Commission. Notion carried.
Quentin Gustafson moved, Art Callahan seconded the motion that we acquire
a secretarial assistant to be present at all meetings, to take minutes of
action taken at meetings, to prepare, ty-oe and. duplicate, and be responsible
for mailing all such records and reports as the Commission needs. Such
person to receive a suggested, compensation of $15.00 per month or a reason-
able going wage in accordance �ith the present wage scale of Brooklyn Center
office employees. 11Iotion carried.
Barbara Swart moved, Joe Barnes seconded thb motion that we purchase the
attache cases presented by Joe Barnes. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Art Callahan, seconded by Barbara Swart that in the
future the Chairman of any permanent committee be apart of the Executive
Committee. Motion carried.
Henry Dorff moved, Art Callahan seconded the motion that there be a special
order of `lisiness. Motion carried.
Will Zalaznik moved, seconded by Phyllis Zeller that the Executive Committee
be responsible for seeing that all members aid in the expansion of public
relations by being available as speakers and on call to aid in the arrange-
ment of a format for such a puroose. Motion carried, 9 in favor, 1 against.

The motion was made by Barbara Swart, seconded by Ray Matthys, that the
meeting be adjourned. Meeting adjourned at 10:45 p.m.
