TIME PLACE: The Brooklyn Center Charter Commission met at the Village
Hall, 7100 Osseo Road at 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 9th, 1965.
THOSE PRESENT: William Arrell, Joseph Barnes, Marie Erickson, Wilfred
Zalaznik, Quentin Gustafson, Henry Dorff, Robert Johnson, Raymond
Matthys, Charles Nichols, Robert Puncochar, Ward Whalen, Barbara
Swart, Phyllis Zeller, Virginia Tesch.
THOSE ABSENT: Arthur Callahan
The meeting was called to order at 8:01 P. M. by Chairman William Arrell.
Erickson moved, Johnson seconded the motion that the minutes of the February
23rd meeting be approved as submitted. Motion carried with one abstaining.
Puncochar moved, Whalen seconded the motion that a statement from the League
of Women Voters in the amount of $7.50 for Tax Booklets be approved. Motion
carried unanimously.
Quentin Gustafson, Chairman of the Public Relations Committe reported that
articles were being carried in the Brooklyn Center Press.
Chairman Arrell welcomed the following citizens who were present by invitation
of the Commission: Mrs. Boyd Berg, Mrs. G.A. Lind, Mrs. Robert Lex, Mrs.
Erlirg Jaeger, Mrs. Robert Parish, Mrs. Russell Sexton, Mr. Vern Ausen, Mrs.
Eileen H. Oslund. Each citizen was given a opportunity to present his case for
or against a Home Rule Charter.
Nichols moved, Matthys seconded the motion that we conclude the discussion
and excuse the citizens so that the Commission could carry on other business.
Motion carried unanimously.
A discussion of the agenda for future meetings followed. Zeller moved,
Nichols seconded, that we invite representatives of the Police Department
to appear at the April 13th meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Whalen moved, Zeller seconded, that we adjourn at 10 :28 P.M.
