40 TIME PLACE: The Brooklyn Center Charter Commission met at the Village
Hall, 7100 Osseo Road at 8 :00 P.M. on Tuesday February 9, 1965.
THOSE PRESENT: William Arrell, Arthur Callahan, Quentin Gustafson,
Charles Nichols, Robert Swart, Virginia Tesch, Wilfred Zalaznik,
Phyllis Zeller; Ward Whalen; Joseph Bi=es arrived at 8 :45.
THOSE ABSENT: Marie Erickson, Robert Johnson, Raymond Matthys.
The meeting was called to order at 8:09 P.M. by Chairman Arrell with 10
members present. Callahan moved, Nichols seconded that the minutes of
the January 26, 1965 meeting be approved as submitted. Motion carried
unanimously.
A card of thanks from Mrs. Marshall Jacobson was read to the Commission.
Quentin Gustafson reported that the Public Relations Committee was going to
insert an article in the Brooklyn Center Press concerning the vacancy on the
Charter Commission.
Nichols moved, Whalen seconded, that we dispense with any further business
and meet with the Park Board and the Park Recreation Commission, Motion
carried unanimously.
Chairman Arrell welcomed the following members of the Park Board and Park
and Recreation Commission who were invited to appear at this meeting.
Gene Hagel Director
Paul Bullen Park Board
Frank Irvin- Park and Recreation Park Board
Polly Hartin Park and Recreation Park Board
John Wingard Park and Recreation Park Board
John Leary Council Rep. on Park Recreation Comm.
Bruce Morrow Park and Recreation
Ray Ecklund Assistant Director
A discussion was held concerning the present methods of operating the Park
Board and the Park and Recreation Commission.
Callahan moved, Zalaznik seconded that the Commission recommend Henry
Dorff as a replacement for Marshall Jacobson. Carried unanimously with
eleven membv s present and voting.
Whalen moved, Quentin Gustafson seconded that we adjourn at 10: 29 P.M.
Carried unanimously.
