HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-066 CCR Member Tony Kuefler introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 78 -66 RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF APRIL 16 THROUGH APRIL 22, 1978 AS VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION WEEK IN BROOKLYN CENTER WHEREAS, approximately fifty percent of Minnesota citizens are involved in responsible and meaningful volunteer work and serve as a vital resource in solving some of the human problems that are a consequence of our complex society; and WHEREAS, volunteers have demonstrated a commitment to the well- being of others, and, through this commitment and concern for others, provide assurance for the future quality of life in Minnesota; and WHEREAS, volunteers representing all ages, economic, educational and ethnic backgrounds give freely of their time to provide a vital and valuable service; and WHEREAS, recognition should be given to individual volunteers for their contribution to the health, education, welfare, recreation, cultural, and civic services of this community; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to express its appreciation to the many fine volunteers of this community and to encourage more citizen participation in volunteer activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to proclaim the week of April 16, 1978 through April 22, 1978 as Volunteer Recognition Week in Brooklyn Center. April 10, 1978 Date Ma ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Celia Scott and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, Gene Lhotka, and Celia Scott; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
