HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-146 CCR Member Philip Cohen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 77 -146 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION OF AND APPRECIATION FOR THE DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE OF DONALD G. POSS WHEREAS, Donald G. Poss served as City Manager of the City of Brooklyn Center from December 12, 1966 through fuly 23, 1977, as Village Administrator from June 27, 1966 through December 12, 1966, and as Director of Public Works from November 15, 1960 through June 27, 1966; and WHEREAS, as Director of Public Works he was influential in the develop- ment of a sewer and water utility system, a comprehensive street network and the City's Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance; and WHEREAS, as Village Administrator he was responsible for the smooth and successful transition from a village form of government to a council- manager form of government; and WHEREAS, as City Manager his accomplishments include the coordination of the construction of the civic center complex, the municipal garage and fire station, the development of a comprehensive sidewalk network, the development and implementation of a number of employee related educational and incentive programs, and under his leadership, working relationships with various Federal, State, and local governments and agencies have been strengthened; and WHEREAS, his devotion to the tasks and responsibilities of these positions contributed substantially to the sound progress and development of the City; and WHEREAS, his public service and civic effort for the betterment of the community merit the gratitude of the citizens of Brooklyn Center; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Brooklyn Center that the dedicated public service of Donald G. Poss, City Manager, is recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn Cen A� July 18, 1977 G� Date r Mayor ATTEST:.G_/3� Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by the entire City Council and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, and Gene Lhotka; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. i
