adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 77 -42
RESOLUTION REDEFINING THE LEVEL OF FUNDING FOR THE
SUBURBAN PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING SERVICE
WHEREAS, the City Council authorized, in the 1977 budget, an appropriation
for Suburban Public Health Nursing Service (SPHNS) programs in an amount of W
per capita; and
WHEREAS, the Community Health Services Act, through Hennepin County,
will provide subsidy resources to support the provision of public health nursing
services to subscribing municipalities at a rate of 40� per capita; and
WHEREAS, this subsidy will lower the contribution of the City of Brooklyn
Center to SPHNS in a like amount; and
WHEREAS, SPHNS has proposed new and additional programs and services
in an amount of 38� per capita and has invited subscribing municipalities to fund
these proposed programs and services through the use of said subsidy; and
WHEREAS, the need and potential effectiveness of these proposed new
programs and services is not clearly evident:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center:
I To restate the City Council's acceptance of programs and
services as comprehended during development of the 1977
budget and to redefine the level of budget funding for those
programs and services at a rate of 20 per capita, the 40
per capita balance of the costs to be financed by state
subsidy.
2. That the City Council does not wish to purchase any
additional services proposed by the Suburban Public
Health Nursing Service until such time as these new
services can be justified as to need and potential
effectiveness.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Philip Cohen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted
in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, and Gene Lhotka;
and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution
was declared duly passed and adopted.
