HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-103 CCR Member Gene Lhotka introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 77 103 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING AND REAFFIRMING THE POLICY AND INTENT OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER TO PROVIDE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN EMPLOYMENT TO ALL PERSONS WHEREAS, equal employment opportunity is the right of all persons to work and to advance on the basis of merit, ability and individual potential; and WHEREAS, ideally the concept of equal opportunity has deep roots in American and legal democratic tradition; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center endorses the principle of equal employment opportunity and desires to reaffirm its long standing commitment to equal employment opportunity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to reaffirm that the policy and intent of the City of Brooklyn Center is to provide equality of opportunity in employment to all persons and to prohibit discriminatory employment policies, programs and practices contained in the State Human Rights Act. May 23 1977 Date s Mayor ATTEST Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Maurice Britts and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, and Gene Lhotka; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
