HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-076 CCR Member Bill Fignar introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 76 -76 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO INSTALL TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT T.H. 152 AND 65TH AVENUE NORTH, STUDY PEDESTRIAN CROSSING NEEDS AT T.H. 152 AND 61ST AVENUE NORTH, AND INDICATING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COST OF SIGNALS WHEREAS, the traffic volumes on T.H. 152 within the City of Brooklyn Center have increased to such an amount that it is unsafe to cross said highway except at controlled intersections; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center deems it necessary for the health, safety, and general welfare of its pedestrian and vehicular traffic to provide for a safe crossng'at the intersection of 65th Avenue North with T.H. 152; and WHEREAS, according to the District 5 traffic engineer, the said intersection of 65th Avenue North with said T.H. 152 meets the warrants for the installation of traffic signals and WHEREAS, the residents in the area of 61st Avenue North, westerly of T.H. 152, have expressed a concern for a safe pedestrian crossing at 61st Avenue North; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. The City hereby requests that: a. The Minnesota Highway Department install traffic signals with pedestrian crossing indicators at the intersection of T.H. 152 and 65th Avenue North. b. Study the pedestrian crossing needs at the inter- section of T.H. 152 and 61st Avenue North. 2. The City is willing to participate in the cost of installing the above said traffic signals. Tune 14, 1976 Date Mayor ATTEST: 4 -1�' -ter Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 76 -76 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Robert Jensen and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
