Adjournment BROOKLYN CENTER CHARTER COMMISSION ANNUAL REPORT 1983 The Charter Commission met six times during 1983. The annual meeting was held on January 26, 1983, with the following officers being elected: Chair: Michael Beauchane Vice Chair: Donn Esther Secretary: Barbara Sexton The following appointments were made: Public Relations: Ernest Erickson Audit: Jean 'Schiebel Rules /Parliamentarian: William Hannay Some of the more significant accomplishments of the Commission during 1983 were as follows: The Commission reviewed all considered potential Charter amendments discussed over the prior few years and "recon sidered two items, one of which is a pending Charter amendment. The Commission participated in Kaleidoscope 1 983• The Commission prepared and presented to the City Manager a suggested Code of Ethics for municipal employees, Council members, and Commissioners. Subsequent meetings with the ;City Manager were held wherein he indicated his intention to proceed further with possible adoption of policies with respect to ethical conduct. Thirteen amendments to the Charter were presented to the City. Council and have been returned to the Commission for further background. In addition, the Commission adopted another proposed amendment (Sec. 9.03) to be presented to the Council. The Commission has reviewed the annual budgeting process with the City Manager and is presently considering the need for revisions to the Charter. Respectfully submitted, Michael P.
