HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-039 CCR Member Bill Fignar introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -39 RESOLUTION URGING EXPEDITIOUS CONSTRUCTION OF INTERSTATE 94 THROUGH BROOKLYN CENTER AND MINNEAPOLIS WHEREAS, the routing of Interstate 94 through Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center has been established; and WHEREAS, the right -of -way has been acquired, people disrupted and homes removed from within such right-of-way, and taxable property removed from the municipal tax rolls in Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, the failure to adhere to construction schedules has caused unnecessary personal hardships for former Brooklyn Center occupants whose home- steads were required for the Interstate 94 right -of -way as well as economic loss to the community in the form of properties prematurely erased from the community tax base; and WHEREAS, Interstate 94 is needed to provide a connector link for the people of Brooklyn Center to the Central City area; and WHEREAS, Interstate 94 plays an integral part in completing a continuous interstate system in the Metropolitan area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to urge that the construction of Interstate 94 be expeditiously effected. i February 10. 1975 Date Mayor z' if ATTEST: The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Tony Kuefler and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
