HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-061 CCR Member Maurice Britts introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -61 RESOLUTION URGING METRO -WIDE EQUALIZATION OF PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Revenue's 1973 Real Assessment Sales Ratio Study again indicates that Hennepin County is leading all counties in the metropolitan area with respect to equity in assessing; and WHEREAS, the aggregate sales ratio indicates that the Counties of Carver, Dakota, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington are failing to maintain appro- priate assessing levels, thereby shifting the burden for metropolitan area service and functions to the taxpayers of Hennepin and Anoka Counties; and WHEREAS, by law the Commissioner of Revenue is charged with the responsibility of equalizing the assessments in those counties failing to provide for a proper level of assessment: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to hereby request that the Commissioner of Revenue require local assessors and boards of review to properly assess and better equalize all proper- ties within the metropolitan area so as to correct the grievous errors which have appeared in the 1972 and 1973 Real Estate Sales Study conducted by his Depart- ment and so as to more properly provide for equalization in assessments among all properties in the metropolitan area and further that the Council of the City of Brooklyn Center hereby extends its support to the Commissioner of Revenue in carrying out these responsibilities; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the members of the Hennepin County legislative delegation.
