its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 75 -61
RESOLUTION URGING METRO -WIDE EQUALIZATION OF
PROPERTY ASSESSMENTS
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Revenue's 1973 Real Assessment Sales
Ratio Study again indicates that Hennepin County is leading all counties in the
metropolitan area with respect to equity in assessing; and
WHEREAS, the aggregate sales ratio indicates that the Counties of
Carver, Dakota, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington are failing to maintain appro-
priate assessing levels, thereby shifting the burden for metropolitan area service
and functions to the taxpayers of Hennepin and Anoka Counties; and
WHEREAS, by law the Commissioner of Revenue is charged with the
responsibility of equalizing the assessments in those counties failing to provide
for a proper level of assessment:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center to hereby request that the Commissioner of Revenue require local
assessors and boards of review to properly assess and better equalize all proper-
ties within the metropolitan area so as to correct the grievous errors which have
appeared in the 1972 and 1973 Real Estate Sales Study conducted by his Depart-
ment and so as to more properly provide for equalization in assessments among
all properties in the metropolitan area and further that the Council of the City of
Brooklyn Center hereby extends its support to the Commissioner of Revenue in
carrying out these responsibilities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the
members of the Hennepin County legislative delegation.
