HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-062 CCR Member Tony Kuefler introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -62 RESOLUTION URGING CONSTRUCTION OF BROOKDALE AREA LIBRARY AND OFFERING COOPERATION OF BROOKLYN CENTER RESOURCES WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center has relied on longstanding Hennepin County plans to construct a proposed Brookdale area Regional Library in a sequence following direction of the Southdale Regional Library; and WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center has long been strongly supportive of the principle that such a Regional Library should embrace "mini- courthouse service centers" pursuant to a Hennepin County government decentralization concept; and WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center City Council on February 24, 1975 adopted Resolution No. 75 -54 which set forth the sequence of events relating to the pro- posed Brookdale area Regional Library, and which expressed the City Council's objection to a proposed further deferral of the Brookdale area Regional Library scheduling; and WHEREAS, the matter was on March 4, 1975 heard before the County Ways and Means Committee and since has been discussed with Hennepin County officials: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to urge that the Hennepin County Board direct the immediate commencement and expeditious execution of plans leading to the construction of the Brookdale area Regional Library in 1975 -76. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Brooklyn Center City Council, in order to expedite such planning, hereby directs the City Manager to cooperate in the planning effort with appropriate Hennepin County officials and to authorize the necessary staff resources toward the art t that objective. April 7. 1975 Date Mayor ATTEST: lerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Maurice Britts and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
