HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-063 CCR Member Bill Fignar introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -63 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION TO THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE FOR THEIR COOPERATION IN THE CAST IRON PIPE LITIGATION WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center was invited to participate, and did participate along with a number of other municipalities, in a class action antitrust litigation involving cast iron pipe material; and WHEREAS, the above mentioned antitrust litigation resulted in an out -of -court settlement exceeding $207,000 in favor of the munici- palities involved; and WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center obtained as its share of the settlement approximately $6,000; and WHEREAS, the antitrust enforcement program of the Attorney General's office and the high level of intergovernmental cooperation coordinated by the Attorney General's office, lead directly to the positive results of this suit: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that: The initiative of the Attorney General's office on behalf of all consumers and the extensive coopera- tion extended by that office in the cast iron pipe litigation is recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn Center. Ar)ril 7. 1975 Date �f Mayor x ATTEST: L Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Maurice Britts and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
