HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-065 CCR Member Robert Jensen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -65 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AMENDMENTS TO OPEN MEETING LAW WHEREAS, the City of Brooklyn Center supports the intent of the open meeting law which is to have the public business conducted openly so that the public can be informed of the decisions and actions being taken; and WHEREAS, nevertheless, there are certain matters of a confidential nature which may not be in the public interest at a particular time to disclose publicly; and WHEREAS, the Attorney General has rendered a nonbinding opinion which appears to be more restrictive than the Legislature intended: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center respectfully urges the Minnesota State Legislature to consider changes to the open meeting law which would provide for amendments to the law as proposed in the draft legislation submitted by the League of Minnesota Municipalities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, members of the State Legislature representing Brooklyn Center, and the League of Minnesota Municipalities. April 7. 1975 Date Mayor ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Bill Fignar and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
