HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-069 CCR Member Robert Jensen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -69 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING H.F. 1079, S.F. 46 REGARDING PROPOSAL TO INCREASE JURISDICTION OF CONCILIATION COURTS WHEREAS, conciliation courts established in Hennepin County have proven to be an effective, inexpensive instrument in resolving minor legal disputes; and WHEREAS, the jurisdiction of conciliation courts is presently limited to resolution of disputes not involving more than $500; and WHEREAS, the combination of inflation and the proven effectiveness of conciliation courts to resolve minor disputes warrants an increase in the jurisdictional limitation to matters involving not to exceed $1,000: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. To support the concept embodied in H.F. 1079, S.F. 46 of increasing the jurisdictional limitation for conciliation court matters from $500 to $1 000. 2. To direct that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Governor of the State of Minnesota and to legislators representing the City of B Cerger. April 7. 1975 Date Mayor ATTEST:il- c;_.�� ClKrk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Tony Kuefler and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
