HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-070 CCR Member Robert Jensen introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -70 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONCEPTS OF S.F. 1084 AUTHORIZING SPECIAL LEVY FOR REDUCTIONS IN ASSESSED VALUATIONS WHEREAS, assessed valuations reduced by court proceedings, by the Commissioner of Revenue, or by county boards cause unanticipated reductions in tax revenues with potentially severe impacts on local government budgets; and WHEREAS, S.F. 1084 would authorize a subsequent special levy in excess of levy limitations in order to compensate for local government revenue losses due to corrections in property classifications from homestead property to nonhomestead property: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1 To support the general concept embodied in S.F. 1084 and to further support the principle represented therein to the effect that any similar losses in anticipated tax revenues should qualify as a subsequent special levy above levy limitations. 2. To direct that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Governor of the State of Minnesota and to legislators representing the City of Brooklyn Center. April 7, 1975 Date Mayor ATTEST; Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Tony Kuefler and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
