HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-074 CCR Member Maurice Brills introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -74 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONCEPT EMBODIED IN H.F. 933 WHEREAS, in numerous cases uncontested offices appear before contested offices on general and primary election ballots; and WHEREAS, it has been demonstrated that the location of these uncontested offices before contested offices on the ballot negatively affects the voting participation in the following contested offices; and WHEREAS, H.F. 933 provides that in general and primary elections nonpartisan offices for which there is only one candidate shall appear after all contested offices on the ballot: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1 To support the concept embodied in H.F. 933. 2. To direct that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Governor of the State of Minnesota and to legislators representing the City of Brooklyn Center. April 7, 1975 Date Mayor ATTEST: The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Robert Jensen; and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: Tony Kuefler, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
