HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-149 CCR Member Tony Kuefler introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. '7,r, -149 RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION OF TUDGE DOUGLAS K. AMDAHL WHEREAS, Brooklyn Center Police Officers were called to testify before the Hennepin County District Court, Fourth judicial District, in connection with the trial of a matter involving the revocation of a driver's license by the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the Defendant was not prepared for trial although adequate notice had been given, requiring said Brooklyn Center Police Officer to return the following day for additional testimony; and WHEREAS, the presiding judge, Douglas K. Amdahl, recognized that requiring the Police Officer to return for an additional day in Court would involve cost to the public; and WHEREAS, as a condition of the postponement the judge required the Defendant to reimburse the City of Brooklyn Center for the cost of providing a Police Officer to the Court for an additional day: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center to commend judge Douglas K. Amdahl for his efforts in furthering the efficient functioning of Court Room procedure, in speeding up the judicial process, and in reducing the cost of law enforcement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to urge that appropriate authorities, legislative and judicial, be stimulated to similar efforts by this example of concern for the public interest. july 21, 19, Date Mayor f ATTEST: C Jerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Bill Fignar and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, ,Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. it
