RESOLUTION NO. '7,r, -149
RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION OF TUDGE DOUGLAS K. AMDAHL
WHEREAS, Brooklyn Center Police Officers were called to testify before the
Hennepin County District Court, Fourth judicial District, in connection with the
trial of a matter involving the revocation of a driver's license by the State of
Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the Defendant was not prepared for trial although adequate notice
had been given, requiring said Brooklyn Center Police Officer to return the following
day for additional testimony; and
WHEREAS, the presiding judge, Douglas K. Amdahl, recognized that requiring
the Police Officer to return for an additional day in Court would involve cost to the
public; and
WHEREAS, as a condition of the postponement the judge required the Defendant
to reimburse the City of Brooklyn Center for the cost of providing a Police Officer to
the Court for an additional day:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn
Center to commend judge Douglas K. Amdahl for his efforts in furthering the efficient
functioning of Court Room procedure, in speeding up the judicial process, and in
reducing the cost of law enforcement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to urge that appropriate authorities, legislative
and judicial, be stimulated to similar efforts by this example of concern for the public
interest.
