HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-235 CCR Member Maurice Britts introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75 -235 RESOLUTION ENDORSING SOLID WASTE ENERGY AND RESOURCE RECOVERY CONCEPT WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center has reviewed the Solid Waste Energy and Resource Recovery Study for Hennepin County prepared by Henningson, Durham and Richardson, and Harry S. Johnson Companies; and WHEREAS, it is apparent from the study that the financial feasibility of such a project is related very heavily upon the sale of steam and the availability of sufficient waste materials for processing; and WHEREAS, Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery is a metropolitan area wide concern. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center as follows: 1. That the City Council endorses the Solid Waste Energy and Resource Recovery concept with the following stipulations: a) Revenue be assured through long term contracts executed with potential steam buyers prior to commencement of a project. b) The source of waste supply be guaranteed prior to commencement of a project. c) The concept be part of an adopted overall metro- politan area wide solid waste management and resource recovery plan. d) The concept be preferably financed and implemented by a multi- county or metropolitan agency rather than by Hennepin County alone. 2. That Hennepin County be commended for foresight in searching for modern effective techniques in waste control. December 22, 1975 Date Mayor G A. Resolution No. 75 -235 ATTEST: Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Tony Kuefler and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Philip Cohen, Maurice Britts, Tony Kuefler, Bill Fignar, and Robert Jensen; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
